Islay Cross
Islay Cross.
According to Celtic spirituality, God is found in all things, not only in the human heart, but also in all of GodÍs creations. This is seen very clearly in their visual arts such as the Book of Kells with its entwined animals. For the people of the British Isles with its hundreds of small islands, the sea and its creatures would be very much a part of their lives. The rays circling the cross head of this cross, looking for spines on a fishÍs back, are symbolic of light-God-the creator of all life. The knotwork is unending symbolizing everlasting life.
As it was,
As it is,
As it shall be Evermore,
O Thou Triune
Of Grace!
With the ebb
With the flow

Due to the hand casting and proprietary staining process, each of my plaques is unique. Each cross comes with a hanger embedded in the stone. The cross comes with a descriptive tag describing the original stone, explanation of the design or information on where the cross is located.
