S2272 The Classic Gents Heavy Claddagh Ring by Shanore
S2272 Gents Heavy Claddagh - Sterling Silver.
This ring has a puffed heart giving the Claddagh design a more three dimensional look.
Sterling silver Men's Claddagh ring, representing Love, Loyalty and Friendship, in whole sizes 5-10, made in Ireland. This ring may also be suitable for some women who may prefer a bigger Claddagh ring with a wider band.
This ring is beautiful in its simplicity. It measures just under 1/2" (12.7 mm) from the base of the heart to the top of the crown. The standard construction is meant to compliment fingers of any size, as it is not too heavy duty nor too delicate. This ring is made in Ireland and stamped at Dublin Castle. Comes in a lovely ring box for gift giving. Legend has it that the Claddagh symbol was originated by Richard Joyce, a Galway seafarer kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery where he learned the art of a goldsmith. When he was released, nothing could keep him from his beloved Galway where he returned to become a master goldsmith and created the Claddagh ring.
For centuries this item was used as a wedding ring by the fisher folk of Claddagh village, which nestled outside the walls of Galway City in the west of Ireland. Claddagh rings are still worn as friendship, engagement or wedding rings depending on how they are worn.
Friendship: if worn on the right hand with the heart facing outwards, the wearer is single and looking for love; the heart facing inwards means the wearer is in a relationship.
Engagement: by placing the ring on the third finger of your left hand with the heart pointing outwards.
Wedding: represented by placing the ring on the third finger of your left hand with the heart pointing inwards towards your heart.
