This pocket watch is enhanced with a pewter disc featuring the Harp emblem encircled with a Celtic knot design. The Harp - the official national emblem of Ireland almost as popular as the shamrock dates back in Irish history to the 8th century and can be found in manuscripts and on Christian crosses. The harp is also strongly associated with Irish music. From as early as 1641 the Harp featured on the center of our national flag up until 1916 and then in 1922 the Tricolour became our national flag.
