This is the classic Irish flat cap made with Co. Donegal tweed, with a snap closure on the brim. The herringbone pattern is made up of alternating chevrons of dark blue-grey and navy blue, with lots of colorful tweedy flecks.
Truly the genuine article, master weaver Eddie Doherty weaves the wool on an antique loom in a small town in Co. Donegal. Eddie is also one of only a few traditional handweavers left in Donegal.
If you've ever seen and felt Eddie's work, you instantly recognize the quality of his weaving. It is incredibly beautiful and very soft; the closer you look, the more colors you see. You really can see and feel the difference. Rugged County Donegal is the capital of Irish tweed, and Eddie Doherty's work is legendary.
